"Seeing" things a little differently

My daughters beach wedding + hurricane Issac = WHAT?

September 8th 2012

This is the date that has been etched into this families brains for the past eight months.  Planning, picking out dresses, flowers, cakes, showers, food and the list goes on and on.

I’m not going to mention the fact that they decided to plan the wedding on the BEACH during the height of hurricane season.  (Of course, mother dearest reminded them.)  Bearing in mind we havent had a major hurricane for several years now.  But this is what the happy couple wanted…a romantic beach wedding as the sun sets into the horizon while family and friends surround them on a beautiful white sand beach in Alabama

After so much planning, we are officially “ready” for this wedding to take place….the house has been purchased, the furniture has been moved, the gifts are coming in…everything is set….as some would say, the pinterest bomb has exploded in my house!   So what can possibly go wrong?

A hurricane?

You have got to be kidding…  We joked about this happening months ago. We all know how iffy it can be to plan something outdoors.  But really?  A hurricane?  Hurricane Issac is on the maps and is heading straight for us…. Well, not exactly straight for us.  We are in Mobile, Alabama so it looks as if it is moving west of us now… but you just never know about these things. I’ve witnessed many strange things with hurricanes during my lifetime.

Schools have been closed, evacuations are in place, all projectiles have been removed from our yard… The checklist is in place.

Ice – check,

canned foods – check,

radio with batteries – check,

flashlights – check,

stressed out bride – check!

Now we sit and we wait and wait and wait.

I am going to think positive and believe that everything is going to work out perfectly for my daughters beautiful sunset wedding on Alabama’s beautiful beach. The storm will continue to travel further west while I huff and puff and blow it in that direction!

I’ve experienced Camille, Federick, Katrina and many storms in between….so ISSAC… if you are listening…GO AWAY!

Have any of you experienced  a hurricane before?   tell me your stories!  We will share!

I think Isaac would be long gone before September 8th. What’s the color motiff of the wedding? I can see some starfish and stones/pebbles in the wedding supplies. 😉

I am thinking you could end up with some very memorable photos, so that could be a bonus! And maybe the wedding will be televised by the weather channel! Hang in there lovebug. 🙂

The storm just barely skimmed past us….we felt tropical storm gusts and lots of heavy downpours. The tide rose and washed out roads and did minor damage on the beaches. All in all we are blessed and the wedding is ON!!!!

Blessings to the bride to be, and to you as well… I’ve huffed and puffed and Issac went west of Tarpon Springs and Tampa, so now we’ll huff and puff and hope he fizzles out before hitting anywhere else, and certainly let’s pray that by wedding day it will be glorious and a sunset to add to the memories of a lifetime!

    My positive input:

Sept. 8th is a while away. I think the beach should be OK by then! if not the highway will be covered with sand and they can do it there – It’s really a beautiful sight – been there. Really – Praying for you.
